But your adornment is the hidden inner man with the imperishable adornment that comes from a meek and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God (1Peter 3:4)
Our society still idolizes the so-called "ideal man" -- entertainers and young photo models who often appear to decorate the pages of magazines that are displayed on supermarket shelves. However, such allure has nothing to do with beauty pleasing to God.
We tend to define beauty as something beautiful that evokes pleasant feelings in us. But God wants us to appreciate more what is in a person's heart -- the inner person -- rather than the things that appear outwardly (1 Peter 3:3-4).
As William Dyrness puts it, something is beautiful in God's eyes when it "exudes integrity as a created being that reflects the goodness of God, the Creator." In other words, someone who has true beauty is someone who submits to God's plan in his life.
No matter what our outward appearance looks like, each of us can actually be a beautiful person. Through the grace that has been given by God, we can have a holy beauty and sincerity that reflects the character of His Son, Jesus Christ. If we offer ourselves fully as instruments of fulfilling God's plan for our lives, we will be able to radiate divine beauty that will never fade (Proverbs 31:30). That's the only way to become a person of true beauty -- VCG
