For ye were bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. (1 Corinthians 6:20)
On August 6, 1945, Kanji Araki, who was still a toddler at that time, was playing on the floor. Although the sirens sounded the alarm of an air raid, few people paid any heed to it, as Hiroshima had previously avoided bombing. Then a blinding flash lit up the sky. The scorching air blew very fast, tearing down buildings and burning downtown. After the nuclear bombing, Kanji's grandmother, brother and sister died of radiation exposure.
When Kanji grew up, he experienced inner conflicts about the people who suffered and died because of the bomb. His parents were Christians, but Kanji chose not to have a religion. Even so, he felt a growing emptiness in his heart. He then began to study the Bible to find out for himself who Jesus is. At a turning point in his soul, Kanji also put faith in Christ, and immediately his empty heart was filled with a very beautiful assurance from God.
When God led him to serve, he quoted 1 Corinthians 6:20 and said, "I have been saved from death so that my life has a higher meaning to serve God."
The Apostle Paul was also spared death in order to serve God. “I have become a minister of the church according to the work that God has entrusted to me to carry out his word fully to you” (Colossians 1:25) . What has God entrusted to you? -HDF
