God is long -suffering and great in power .... God is good; It is a place of refuge in times of trouble (Nahum 1: 3,7)
When we were little, my older brother and I always said the following prayer before dinner: God is great, great. Let us thank Him for this food. For many years I said this prayer non-stop because I did not know what my life would be like if this were not true, that is, if God was not omnipotent and not good.
Without His greatness that maintains order in the universe, all galaxies would be a dumping ground for colliding stars and planets. And without His goodness that says enough for every evil ruler, then the earth will be like a playground ruled by great bullies.
This simple childhood prayer praises God's two basic attributes: transcendent and immanent. Transcendent means that His greatness is beyond our understanding. Immanence describes His closeness to us. God's almighty greatness makes us fall in humility. However, God's goodness lifts us up again in triumphant praise and thanksgiving. He who is above all things humbled Himself and became a part of us (Psalm 135:5, Philippians 2:8) .
Praise God because He uses His greatness not to destroy, but to save us. In addition, He uses His goodness not as an excuse to reject us, but to reach us -
