What I command you this day you shall observe to do (Deuteronomy 6: 6).
When I was in high school, my driving instructor gave me wise advice. Do you think by looking in the rearview mirror, you will know what is on your left side? When in fact your vision through the rearview mirror is limited, he said. Therefore, always look to the side before you change lanes. Perhaps, without you realizing it, another car was passing by. This wise hint has saved me from a serious accident that could have happened.
Moses also had some wise instructions for the people of Israel. Studying and meditating on God's commandments should be a part of their lives. Moses said, Thou shalt teach it again and again to thy children and speak of it when thou sittest in thy house, when thou art on the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up (Deuteronomy 6: 7). In short, the word of God must penetrate into every aspect of their lives.
The Bible is a guide from God Himself for us to direct the ark of life. However, having a Bible alone is not enough. The Bible must be studied, applied, and shared with others.
Just as we always look back when we are about to change lanes on the highway, applying God's word must also be our natural response when facing life's problems. It will help us to avoid spiritual accidents -HDF
