Therefore let us boldly approach the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16)
One morning, Scott Long and his wife had just woken up and were still lying in bed. Suddenly someone who is still very young into their room. He circled the bed and approached Scott.
If the person entering is a foreigner, then he/she is a criminal intruder. If he was a friend, then his presence was quite annoying. However, it was their toddler who entered the bedroom. The kid immediately jumped on the bed, and said shamelessly, "I want in the middle." Scott was struck by the sense of security a child would feel in knowing that he was loved so much.
We are welcomed into the presence of our heavenly Father. Hebrews 4:16 says that we can "approach with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to receive help in time of need." We can come to Him boldly with any need -- our needs and longings -- because we know He cares about us (1 Peter 5:7).
Writer Phillip Brooks once said, "If men were men and God were God, then to live without prayer was not merely a terrible thing; it was utterly foolish."
Let us not be foolish and ignore the help we can get through prayer to the Father. Instead, let us approach Him with the courage of a child, who realizes that he is loved and wanted by his father --AMC
