BACK TO THE STARTING POINT

Your brother died and is alive again, he was lost and is found (Luke 15:32)

In his enchanting book, Orthodoxy, GK Chesterton tells how he left what he considered to be the Christian faith, but later found the true Christian faith. To illustrate his spiritual journey, Chesterton describes the absurd situation of someone planting the flag of the British Empire on a foreign island, but then realizing that it is none other than the coast of England.

Raised in a church that did not grow, Chesterton abandoned his shallow faith. But then he began to doubt the atheist ideas that had made him distrust. Then he discovers the truth that he had neglected before. The “new country” was none other than his own home.

Jesus once told a story about a young man who left his house, but then he realized that his house was worth it. In the parable of the prodigal son, the youngest asks for a share of his father's property. When he wanders away from home, he continues to indulge. However, his extravagant lifestyle trapped him, so that he fell into poverty. Finally he went home and confessed his sins. The painful consequences of life have forced him to return to a loving father.

Too often we feel a tendency to stray from the One who has redeemed us. Our loving Father is currently watching and waiting for our return -HDF
