AWAY FROM TEMPTATION

Avoid the lusts of the young, pursue justice, faithfulness, love and peace (2Timothy 2:22)

According to Greek mythology, sea nymphs inhabit some areas of the Mediterranean coast. As the ships passed, the fairies sang enchanting songs. As a result of hearing the singing, the sailors would jump from the ship and drown. They were attracted by the music of the songs.

At that time, Odysseus was on a ship that had to go through that route. Aware of the temptation of the songs, he then gave orders that he be tied with ropes to the mast and that the ears of the crew be covered with wax. Thus, they no longer heard the seductive music of the fairies. Thanks to these precautions, Odysseus and the crew were able to sail on. Nor did they fall to the sea fairies' temptations.

As Christians, we need to always be prepared against every evil temptation. We must hate sin and be serious about resisting its temptations by deciding to deny ourselves any part in it.

Is there a sin that always appears in your life that has defeated you? Drastic measures must be taken. You should avoid every inducement that you realize will take advantage of your weakness. The best protection against temptation is to heed Paul's warning to Timothy: Avoid youthful lusts, pursue righteousness (2Timothy 2:22). The advice was good at the time; and still good for today's RWD

THE BEST WAY TO ESCAPE FROM TEMPTATION
IS BY RUNNING TO GOD
