This applies to each of you: Love your wife as yourself and a wife should respect her husband (Ephesians 5:33)
Nancy Anderson says her faith turned lukewarm, leading her to believe the world's lie: "I deserve to be happy." This lie got him involved in an dark love affair that almost ended his marriage. He wrote a book called Avoiding The Greener Grass Syndome so that his story of unfaithfulness would not become "someone else's story".
In her book, Nancy suggests six actions to build "fences" that protect your marriage and help shape a "happy marriage":
Listen - put an ear to your partner.
Provide encouragement - build your partner's image by focusing on good qualities.
Date - commemorate your wedding by playing and laughing together.
Be careful - make clear boundaries.
Study - study your partner in order to really understand him.
Satisfying - fulfilling each other's needs.
The grass on the other side of the fence may seem greener, but only loyalty to God and promises to your partner can give you peace of mind and satisfaction.
If you avoid greener grass syndrome by loving and respecting your spouse, your marriage will be a picture of the relationship of Christ and the church to those around you (Ephesians 5:31,32) -AMC
