BE SILENT FOR A MINUTE

After the earthquake came the fire. But there is no God in that fire. And after the fire came the sound of a gentle breeze (1 Kings 19:12)

In recent years, the widespread use of digital music players has damaged the hearing of many people. So far, the existence of this device and its earphones has become the object of public complaints and lawsuits. Listening to music at high volumes for a long time has shown a serious impact, namely damage to hearing. In some ways, too much listening can turn deaf ears.

We live in a world full of sound. It can be voices designed to influence a person to buy something, to beg, to tease, and to deceive. In the midst of this cacophony of voices, we can easily ignore one voice that actually means a lot.

Elijah listened to Jezebel's threats and his own voice of fear, so he ran and hid in a cave. In the cave he was faced with the sound of strong and strong winds, earthquakes, and fire (1 Kings 19:11,12). Then, the cave became quiet until God's voice -- the only voice that mattered -- broke out in the form of "the sound of a gentle breeze" (verse 12).

If we want to hear God speak to our hearts through His Word, all we need to do is stay away from crowds. When we learn to be silent, we will truly understand what it means to be in communion with the God who cares for us.

In our "quiet time" today, let us try to listen to God's voice --WEC
