TRUE SURRENDER

It is true that worship, if accompanied by a sense of sufficiency, gives great profit (1Timothy 6:6)

Surrender is not a popular word. We use it to express something despicable after suffering defeat. When a nation loses a war, it may be forced into unconditional surrender, and has no right to speak.

But there is one kind of surrender that is honorable and worth making. First of all, we surrender our lusts and desires of the flesh to the heavenly Father. Jesus has been an example for us because He did the will of the Father in all things (John 6:38).

The second thing is that we acknowledge the power of God. This is marked by the ability to accept the reality when things don't go according to the plans we dream of because God reveals His more glorious will on earth. In this life we will go through good times and bad times. Our health may not be good. Those we love may hurt or leave us, or even die. Our dreams may never come true.

In a spiritual context, surrender means believing that God will do what is best for us. As Paul said, this means learning to be self-sufficient "in all circumstances" (Philippians 4:11-12), and by faith we realize that God will provide for all our needs (Philippians 4:19). This kind of faith is not easy. But this is the only way to overcome dissatisfaction and outbursts of anger due to circumstances over which we have no control.

Now is the right time to say "I surrender" to God and to His will and plan -- DCE

SURRENDER IS A VICTORY IF WE DO IT AS A FORM OF OBEDIENCE TO GOD
