Serve one another, according to the gift each person has received as a good steward of God's grace (1 Peter 4:10)
Between the 1960s and 1970s, there was much talk about the individual's right to "do his own thing." Through this concept, people are encouraged to be themselves, to know themselves and to express themselves.
Of course, Christians should not pursue an unhealthy concept of individualism, which only glorifies self and ignores God. However, if we remember our responsibility to others and acknowledge our dependence on God, He can use the special skills and spiritual gifts we have for His glory.
Romans 12:1-21 reminds us that believers apart from being members of one body, also have different God-given gifts. Every child of God must know his own gift and use it to serve Him.
In commercial airplane flights, both pilots, co-pilots, engine parts, technicians and flight attendants have different responsibilities. What a great risk faced by the passengers if each member of the flight crew neglects their respective duties and roles! Something similar can happen to church life if each member of the church only demands their own position.
Don't get caught up in trivial things like pursuing a position that may not suit you, instead of giving the best for Allah. Recognize the gifts God has given you and "do your own part." And, do it well! --RWD
