NEW TRUTH?

Because all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)

Sometimes, scholars claim that they have made their discoveries a contribution to science. Congratulations -- if that's true. But often new discoveries are simply old truths that the Bible has taught throughout history.

According to sociologist Robert Bellah, "One psychologist today says that 98 percent of Americans are dysfunctional. There is no doubt that he is right. He has discovered original sin, even though he is wrong in suggesting that there are two percent of people who are innocent. "

The "discovery" that expresses our condition, in popular terms it is called experiencing "dysfunction," is simply a discovery and rewording of the statement of the Apostle Paul: "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

But what can we do when in fact we are not able to function as we should in our relationship with God and fellow humans? Researchers are constantly proposing new methods to address this problem. But there is only one guaranteed way to overcome the eternal consequences of sin and pave the way for overcoming the power of sin right now. That way is God's gift within us if we want to have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23).

Have you found this old truth to be a new truth for you? --VCG

WE CAN FEEL THE NEED FOR A SAVIOR ONLY IF WE CAN SEE OUR SINS
