BE CAREFUL!

"Take heed, lest ye be led astray..." (Luke 21:8)

Some time ago, an acquaintance of mine was "tricked" by a goods peddler who was very good at talking. The man showed off his merchandise in the form of some very beautiful watches and he promised a special discount. In particular he took great pride in some very expensive looking timepieces which had famous brand names printed on the dial.

My best friend was very interested and bought some of them. But after the peddler left, he looked back at the goods he had bought more carefully. He was then surprised and disappointed when he found that the watch brand was not a well-known brand at all. The two letters on the brand were different, but because they were so small he had not seen them before. The strap, too, is not made of genuine leather but of “lizard skin,” and on the back of the watch are inscribed the words “Swiss made base metal.”

This incident reminds me of what the Savior said in Luke 21:8, "Take heed, lest ye be led astray..." As in the business world where many people are led astray and deceived, in Christianity there are also many teachers a fake who cunningly twists a truth. They use biblical terms and appear orthodox. But be careful! They are actually evil and mean to mislead you. Stay rooted in the word of God, then we will not be "deceived" by deceptive things! -- RWD
