But I live in sincerity (Psalm 26:11)
He is a politician who is respected for his integrity. Although this statement is considered a contradiction by many, it is often used aptly to describe an American congressman named Paul Henry. After this three-term congressman died of brain cancer, a political commentator named David Broder said, "He was the role model a public servant should be."
There is a good reason to strengthen Paul Henry's integrity: He was a Christian who dedicated his life and work to God. In many ways, his life reflects the distinctive qualities mentioned in Psalm 26:1-12.
The psalmist David said that he (1) walked in God's righteousness, (2) avoided involvement in sin, and (3) enjoyed the worship of God. In a similar way, Paul Henry (1) sought to live according to Bible principles, (2) guarded against the influence of unbelievers, and (3) served in his local church regularly.
The sincerity that David wrote and that Paul Henry showed should be our goal as believers in Jesus. As we grow to be more like the Christ we worship, our lives will be marked by truth and righteous thoughts. Every day we must ask God to help us to live sincerely -- JDB
