Thus the LORD surrounds His people, from now until forever (Psalm 125:2)
One day I was having a conversation with a man who expressed his concern about the future. He was sure that the stock market would fall. He thought our country would be taken over by evil forces, and the church would fall into the world. Even though he professes to have faith in Jesus Christ, he fears that even a little wrong behavior or thinking will end up in hell.
Psalm 125:1-5 reminds us that we need not fear the future. The psalmist praises God because He has promised to protect and care for His people. As the mountains surrounding Jerusalem will not be moved, so the psalmist sings, God surrounds His people forever (Psalm 125:1-2).
God promises to suffice us with His grace. We have the assurance of eternal life because He said so. Jesus declared that nothing of His own can be snatched from His Father's hand (John 10:28). And Paul wrote that nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:38-39).
This does not mean that we are free to do anything and sin. Paul writes with an emphasis on our inconsistency with sinning when we are "dead to sin" (Romans 6:1-4).
We who know God and walk in His ways have all the assurance that our future is as secure as God's unchanging nature -- DCE
NO NEED TO BE AFRAID OF WHERE WE WILL GO WHEN WE KNOW GOD IS WALKING WITH US
