Therefore what is important is not the one who plants or waters, but God who gives the growth (1 Corinthians 3:7)
With a passion for serving God, it's easy to think that we are responsible for producing results. This makes us rely too much on our abilities and lack faith in Allah.
Paul observed the same trend in the Corinthian church. Certain believers praised Paul's "planting of seeds" ministry, while others preferred Apollo's "watering" ministry. In 1 Corinthians 3, Paul reminds us that God makes every seed bear fruit (verses 4-7). However, Paul acknowledged that their faithful efforts were part of God's plan, "and each one will receive his own reward according to his own work" (v. 8).
Imagine a farmer sitting on the front porch of his house. Ask what he is doing. He answered, "Farming." Ask him what he is planting. He answered, "Wheat." "But your fields don't seem to be plowed and planted," you said. "That's right," he replied, "I planted with faith. I'm sure God will give me a harvest." "But shouldn't you be doing something?" your protest. He answered, "I have acted: I pray and believe!"
This story reminds us that God will not do our job, and 1 Corinthians teaches that the harvest does not depend on us. The best way to serve is to plant and water the seed with faith, then fully trust God to give the harvest --Joanie Yoder
WE CAN PLANT SEEDS
BUT ONLY GOD CAN GIVE A HARVEST
