Can you imagine a child who doesn't open his presents early on Christmas morning? Unfortunately, millions of people do the same by ignoring or rejecting Jesus Christ as their Savior. Everyone has a gift with a label that says: TO: (your name) FROM: Allah. But that gift can only be opened by repentance and faith.
However, God does not just give us one gift. He chose a second award ceremony. At Christmas we celebrate God's gift to the world, namely His Son. But on Pentecost Day, He and His Son jointly gave believers another gift, namely the Holy Spirit (John 14:16; 16:7).
Again, imagine a child who opens only one present at Christmas, but leaves the others tightly wrapped. Now the Holy Spirit lives in every believer, but we often fail to take full advantage of all that He has given. If we ask Him, the Holy Spirit will guide us to better understand God's word, give us assurance of the power of God's maintenance and care, and transform us into persons similar to Christ.
This Christmas, let us consider the importance of the presence of the Holy Spirit, and ask God to help us fully experience all the benefits of Him.
