"WHO?", NOT "WHY"

Lord, You know all my desires, and my complaints are not hidden from You (Psalm 38:10)

While attending a panel with parents who have experienced and experienced loss, I was surprised that I can learn so much by listening. We were there to help others who were grieving, but in the end we ended up complementing each other there.

A mother who lost her daughter to encephalitis, shared a simple truth that touched me. When he kept asking "Why?", he told his father. The father said the better question was "Who?". His father then explained that he would never understand why his son died so soon. However, it will be very helpful if he thinks who is God behind all the tragedies that he has experienced.

Contemplate what this means for us in all these difficulties. When we face unexpected grief and ask "Who?" we get the answer: "The Father is merciful and God is the source of all comfort" (2 Corinthians 1: 3). When we are weak, we will find "the Lord, my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer" (Psalm 18: 3). When the sins of this world seem unbearable, we know that "God, the source of peace, will soon crush Satan under your feet" (Romans 16:20).

When the question "Why God?" appears in your heart, you should ask, "Who are You, God?" Then seek Him in His word --JDB
