GOOD EMPLOYEES

Have you ever seen a person who speaks in his work? Before kings he will stand… (Proverbs 22:29)

Early in our marriage, my wife and I tried to put up wallpaper in our gloomy Chicago apartment. We were able to get the job done, despite the difficulties. I've even had to get rid of wallpaper that didn't fit neatly and then go to the store to buy more paper. I also began to appreciate someone who can do a job like wallpapering skillfully.

I am amazed to see a carpenter who makes things precisely without measuring repeatedly. I admire the truck driver who skillfully backs his big truck into tight spaces with ease. In fact, I had a hard time when I pulled the small trailer in the garage yard which is 4.8 meters wide. I take my hat off to the plumbers who so effortlessly and without complaint installed a water heater in a seemingly unattainable space, especially when I remembered my despair when installing a simple water filter.

We read a verse of Scripture today about the planners and weavers who helped build the Tabernacle. Proverbs 22:29 says, a man who speaks in his work "shall stand before kings". And Paul wrote, “Whatever you do, do it with all your heart, as to the Lord, and not to men” (Colossians 3:23).

God is pleased with a job well done. He values good workers. We too should be good workers -HVG
