Tears in Heaven

He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more; there will be no more mourning or lamentation (Revelation 21: 4)

In 1991, the famous British guitarist, Eric Clapton, was grieved when his four-year-old son Conor died in a fall from the window of his apartment. As a means of channeling his grief, Clapton wrote the lyrics of a song with a deep sad tune: "Tears in Heaven". It seems that every note in the song contains a pain and loss that only parents who have lost children can understand.

But surprisingly, a few years later in a television interview, Clapton said, "In some ways, the song is not really a sad song, but a song full of conviction. When it says there will be no more tears in heaven, I think. it's a song of optimism, which is about reuniting. "

The thought of a heavenly reunion is so strengthening. For everyone who has trusted Christ for salvation, there is hope that we will be reunited forever, in a place where "He shall wipe away all tears from [our] eyes, and death shall be no more; weeping (Revelation 21: 4) And most importantly, there we will "see his face" and dwell with Christ forever (22: 4).

When we experience loss and sorrow, weeping and mourning, how comforting it is to know that Christ has purchased a heavenly home for us in which there will be no more weeping! --WEC
