When I meet Your words, then I enjoy them; Your word is a joy to me, and a joy to my heart (Jeremiah 15:16)
Dr. Smiley Blanton is a busy New York City psychologist. He kept a Bible on his desk. Somewhat surprised to see this, a client asked him, Do you, as a psychologist, read the Bible?
I not only read it, but also studied it, said Dr. Blanton who is a devout Christian. Then he added, If people are willing to absorb his message, then many psychologists will lose their jobs.
To make this point clearer, Dr. Blanton says that if clients troubled by guilt are willing to read the parable of the prodigal son and his forgiving father (Luke 15: 11-32) , then they can find the key to healing.
Are we looking for healing in God's powerful word? We may read the Bible, but do we really believe, study, and apply its teachings? The saving truth of the Scriptures is God's potent medicine to free us from the disease of sin.
The prophet Jeremiah, in the midst of adversity and suffering, found joy in the word of the Lord (Jeremiah 15:16) . The psalmist who loved the commandments of God (Psalm 119: 48) said to Him, I will delight myself in Your commandments .... I will meditate on Your statutes (verses 47,48).
Like medicine, the word of God must be used according to the rules of use. Have you grasped the truth? VCG
