His mercy does not stop (Lamentations 3:22)
What good is faith if everything seems hopeless? I have asked this profound question in my life, and recently I received a letter from a mother asking the same question.
She shared that she and her husband started their marriage by seeking God's will for their lives and entrusting their future to Him. Then their second child was born with Down syndrome. Their initial response to this was sadness, shock, and disbelief. But on the child's birthday, God used (Philippians 4: 6,7) to put peace in their hearts and give their special child everlasting love. The verse reads: Express all your desires to God ... The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard the heart.
However, their days in the desert were not over. Nine years later, their fourth child was diagnosed with cancer. Before he was three years old, he died. Shock, pain, and sadness burst into their lives once again. And once again, they found help in God and His word. When adversity crushed us, said this mother, we returned to the word of God and the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
When life's troubles hit us like a tidal wave, we can remember that God's mercy never leaves us (Lamentations 3:22) . He can give the hope we need--JDB
Feelings of hopelessness remind us
that we are helpless without God
that we are helpless without God
