For each of you applies: Love your wife as herself and the wife should respect her husband (Ephesians 5:33)
Nancy Anderson said that her faith turned lukewarm, so that she believed the lie of the world: "I have a right to be happy." This lie got him into a dark love affair that nearly ended his marriage. He wrote a book called Avoiding the Greener Grass Syndome so that his story of infidelity does not become "someone else's story."
In her book, Nancy suggests six actions to build a "fence" that protects your marriage and helps form a "happy marriage":
Listen - listen to your partner.
Providing encouragement - building your partner's image by focusing on good qualities.
Date - commemorate your wedding by playing and laughing together.
Take care - make boundaries clear.
Learning - studying your partner in order to really understand him.
Satisfying - meeting each other's needs.
The grass across the fence may appear greener, but faithfulness to God and promises to your partner alone can bring peace and contentment.
If you avoid greener grass syndrome by loving and respecting your partner, your marriage will be a picture of the relationship of Christ and the church to those around you.(Ephesians 5: 31,32) -AMC
