God is merciful and just, our God is merciful (Psalm 116:5)
Theodore Roosevelt understood the dangers of being cynical when he said, "The worst way to live life is to live it cynically."
The psalmist almost slipped into this danger. It has cunning and evil enemies. His attacks were unprovoked and his despair was so deep that he thought he was going to die. In loneliness and heartache, he then came to his own conclusion that no one could trust him. He said in his confusion, "All men are liars" (Psalm 116:11).
Cynicism is like a virus that attacks the spirit and destroys our relationships, both with others and with God. Cynicism suspects the worst of even the best of people. He can see more bad in a keyhole than good in a wide open door.
The psalmist was nearly defeated by his enemies, not by sword but by words. And the greatest danger occurs not because of the slander that is accused of him, but because of the influence of that evil in his soul which hinders his relationship with God.
Beware of the danger of sneezes. Avoid judging others in your despair. The psalmist did this, but he soon realized that his view was mistaken. God has led him and replaced his cynicism with moving praise. God can also do the same to you -- HWR
A CYNISTIC ATTITUDE ONLY SEE BAD THINGS BUT FAITH SEE GOOD THINGS
