HEIRS OF GOD

So you are no longer a servant, but a child; if you are sons, you also are heirs through God (Galatians 4:7)

When some of our friends were considering adopting orphans from abroad to live with their families, they wrestled prayerfully with the feelings that the decision brought. Bringing a child to America meant that they had to adopt him, and give him the same rights and status as their own children. And he will be one of their heirs.

They weren't unwilling to share what they had, but they were struggling about the long term consequences of what they were about to do. Caring for an adopted child is a loving and unselfish act. But adopting him as a child is a more serious responsibility.

Isn't it an amazing thing that in His eternal plan, God has decided to raise us to be His children in Christ? More than just giving attention and love, God has made us His heirs. The Bible says that Christ redeemed us "so that we may be accepted as children...if you are children, then you are also heirs, by God" (Galatians 4:5,7). What is passed on to us? All the wealth of God's generosity, grace, and love, as well as His presence and peace. We inherit a relationship with God for now and forever.

How special it is when we are raised -- the chosen children -- to be heirs in God's family! [DCM]

WHEN YOU RECEIVE CHRIST
YOU BECOME AN HEIR TO ALL THE WEALTH OF HEAVEN
