TOO MUCH WORK?

One thing I have asked God, ... to live in God's house all my life (Psalm 27:4)

Basically I am a jovial. Most of the time I can do as much work as I am given. However, there are days when there is so much work to be done. My schedule is so full of meetings, appointments, and deadlines that it feels like there's no more time to breathe. This life is often filled with a lot of work, family care activities, home repairs, and many other responsibilities that must be handled by one person.

If that happens to me, as it can happen to you, I have a few options. I can withdraw by doing nothing and abandoning everyone who depends on me. I can keep working hard, all the while complaining and making everyone expect me to choose the first option. Or I can ask that my perspective be straightened out by reminding myself of what Jesus said to Martha (Luke 10:38-42).

Jesus rebuked Martha because she was “very busy serving” (v. 40). He reminds Marta that her sister, Mary, has chosen a part that will not be taken away from her (verse 42). Like most of us, Martha was so busy serving that she forgot the most important thing, which is fellowship with God.

Are you so busy right now? Never forget your priorities. Spend time with God. He will lift your burdens and give you the right perspective --Dave Branon
