CALM UNDER PRESSURE

By repenting and remaining silent you will be saved; in staying calm and believing lies your strength (Isaiah 30:15)

At a farewell party with a pastor who had served for 20 years, several preachers eloquently praised his virtues. Even a layman praised that the pastor had provided satisfactory service. He said, "I have watched him almost every day for the past 20 years, and I have never seen him panic!"

The pastor said that for years he had asked God to teach him how to renew strength through "calmness and trust," as he read in Isaiah 30:15. In that verse, Isaiah calls on the rebellious Israelites to turn around and believe in God in order to gain new strength. The pastor saw that the principle fit in his life.

Some people are naturally calm from birth. Others are easily swayed. But whatever our temperament as Christians, we can turn to God in prayer and renew our strength in calm and trust. Martin Luther said he was so busy that he had to spend at least 3 hours a day praying for all his activities. Many times we reverse the order. We are busy doing one task after another until we are confused because we don't have time with God.

Let's learn from the principle contained in Isaiah 30:15. In calmness and trust before Allah, we will find the true source of strength to stay calm in every pressure-RWD
