You have been redeemed ... not with perishable things, ... but with the precious blood, which is the blood of Christ (1 Peter 1:18,19)
One successful businessman made the statement, "Almost all religions speak of the coming of a savior. When you look in the mirror in the morning, you are seeing that savior. No one can save you but yourself."
As Christians, we do not agree with this view because it is so contrary to the Bible. The Bible teaches something completely different from such selfish self-assurances. The Apostle Peter said this about Jesus, "There is no salvation in anyone but in Him, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we can be saved" (Acts 4:12).
In Romans 4, we have a clear teaching that only by faith, not by works, can we have fellowship with God: "But to him who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness" (v. 5) . And, we read in Romans 3:28, "For we are convinced that man is justified by faith, not by works of the law." There is no other way -- not money or good works -- that can make God accept our sinful selves.
We cannot save ourselves. We can only be saved by the Son of God, namely Jesus who lived a blameless life, died as the perfect sacrifice for our sins and rose from the grave --VCG
You can't buy your way to heaven --
The wages of sin is death.
Jesus longs to save you from sin;
Don't wait for death to come. --Hess
