It is good to sing thanks to God, and to sing psalms to your name, O Most High (Psalm 92:2)
Psalm 92 is a "Song for the Sabbath", a place of rest for those who are in trouble.
The song begins with a hymn: "It is good to sing thanks to God." This does us good because we can turn from a restless and restless mind to one that proclaims “[His] lovingkindness in the morning, and [His] faithfulness at night” (verse 3). God loves us and is always faithful! He makes us always rejoice (verse 5).
Singing praises not only makes us happy, but also makes us wise. We begin to understand something related to God's greatness and creative plan in everything He does (verses 6-10). We get hidden wisdom for those who do not know God. The wicked may "grow" and "sprout like plants" for a while (verse 8), but eventually they will wither.
Instead, the righteous are united with God who lives in eternity (verse 9). They "sprout like palm trees" and "like the cedars of Lebanon" (v. 13), symbols of graceful beauty and unwavering strength. It's all because they have been "planted in the temple of God" (v. 14). Their roots sink into the soil of God's faithfulness; they enjoy His undying love.
Be thankful and praise God today! --DHR
Oh, give thanks to God in heaven,
Eternal fountain of love, His grace endures forever
, and will continue forever. --Anon.
A HEART THAT IS IN LINE WITH GOD WILL ALWAYS SING HIM'S PRAISE
