As people who believe in Jesus Christ, we are invited to participate in spiritual warfare against evil forces that are invisible to the eye. In order to defeat our enemies with the power of the Holy Spirit, we must remain firm in our faith in God and ensure that we will never experience defeat.
A story lifted from the Korean war illustrates such an attitude. When the enemy forces attacked, the Baker Company's troops were cut off from their headquarters. For a few moments no news was heard. Despite this, headquarters kept trying to contact them. Finally, a soft voice sounded.
"Baker Company, do you hear me?" asked the officer at headquarters.
"This is the Baker Company," came the weak reply.
"What's your situation?" asked the officer again.
"The enemy is to our east, the enemy is to our west, the enemy is to our north, the enemy is to our south." After a moment of silence, a sergeant from the Baker Company continued confidently, "The enemy won't be able to get away from us now!"
Despite being surrounded and outnumbered, he still thinks of victory, not defeat.
