The eye is not satisfied with seeing, and the ear is not satisfied with hearing (Ecclesiastes 1:8)
Someone came to the travel agency and said that he wanted to go sailing. "Where to?" so he was asked. “I don't know,” he replied. Then the travel agent suggested that he take a quick look at the large globe that was in the room. He looked around for a moment, then desperately asked, "Is this all you have to offer?"
The world in which we live contains many interesting things. Apart from the things of sin, we can and should enjoy those pleasures. Delicious food eaten with fellow fellowship can warm our hearts. The beauty of nature will inspire and fill our minds with awe. Beautiful music can refresh our soul. And work can make us whole human beings.
In this sin-cursed world, we can even find joy. But the pursuit of such pleasures cannot lead to full and lasting satisfaction.
Actually , people who live only for self-satisfaction, no matter how high their achievements, will always want something more. Even though they have drunk the pleasures of the world, their thirst will not be quenched. Therefore, they must agree with Solomon that “all things are vanity and a chasing after the wind” (Ecclesiastes 2:17).
Only by living for Jesus Christ, will we get true satisfaction --Richard W. De Haan
