Guard your heart with all vigilance, for it is from it that the springs of life flow (Proverbs 4:23)
If you are over 40 years old, it means that your heart has beaten more than 1.5 billion times. I realized that by the time my heart stopped beating, it would be too late for me to change my lifestyle. So I'm trying to control my weight, exercise, and pay attention not only to what I eat, but also to what's on my mind.
This last thing is related to another important organ called the “heart”, which is our spiritual heart. Our hearts also beat a million times with thoughts, affections, and choices. In our hearts, we decide how we will speak, behave, and respond to circumstances (Proverbs 4:23). Are we going to trust God and choose to be kind, patient, and loving? Or will we give in to pride, greed, and bitterness?
Today's Scripture reading emphasizes the importance of guarding our hearts. Are we staying spiritually healthy?
Weight: Do we need to reduce unnecessary burdens and thoughts?
Deyut: Do we maintain the regularity of the rhythm of thanksgiving and praise?
Blood pressure: Are our beliefs greater than our anxiety?
Diet: Do we enjoy the life-giving nutrition of God's word?
