BALANCE

Husbands, love your wives...and wives should honor their husbands (Ephesians 5:25,33)

A good marriage has a balance. The daily realities of life must be combined with constant joy and love for one another.

The facts of life will help a husband see that he must accept his wife as she is, not be too sensitive to her feelings. It will also make her see that her critical comments can destroy her husband's self-respect.

The fact of life alone is not enough. Romantic matters are often thrown away after the wedding, which results in a marriage not growing. This could prevent the situation depicted in a cartoon about an old married couple sitting on the front porch of their house. The husband said, "Sarah, sometimes when I think about how much you mean to me, I can't stop myself from telling you."

The words of the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 5:1-24 illustrate that love between two people reflects Christ's sacrifice for His church. It can be said that that is love filled with kindness and gentleness.

Regardless of whether you are dating or have been married half a year or half a century, Christ can help you to balance your marriage relationship between reality and romance.

Keep walking in His love and see what will happen to your marriage -- DJD
