So whoever is in Christ, he is a new creation: the old has passed away, the new has come (2Corinthians 5:17
).
A handkerchief made of very expensive material, stained with a speck of ink. The owner of the handkerchief could no longer show off his prized possession, and he sadly showed it to a painter and art critic named John Ruskin. The painter took the handkerchief, and with great skill, he made the inkblot the centerpiece of a beautiful design. The lady's handkerchief became even more precious than before.
Our creator God "encountered" a situation similar to that faced by the painter. Only, the problem facing God is much bigger and immeasurable. Adam was God's highest creation, but he had corrupted himself by sin. Adam, in his broken and tainted state, was better suited to be banished forever. Yet through the wondrous way of the cross, our gracious God, the Highest Painter, takes the broken sinner and recreates it to reflect the beauty of Christ's holiness.
The moment we believe in our crucified Savior, we not only receive forgiveness for our sins, but God's holy Spirit transforms us, making us the precious possessions of our creator. As the Apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the church in Ephesus, we will show "the riches of His grace toward us in Christ Jesus" (Ephesians 2:7) -- VCG
ONLY GOD CAN CHANGE A SOUL TAKEN BY SIN INTO A GREAT WORK
