WITHOUT KNOWING THE PURPOSE

By faith Abraham obeyed, when he was called..., then he departed without knowing where he was going (Hebrews 11:8)

One of the biggest obstacles we face in following Christ is fear of the unknown. We want to know in advance the results of our obedience and where He is taking us. However, we are only given the assurance that He is with us and that He is in control. And with that guarantee, we take the risk of walking without knowing our purpose with Him.

Abraham provides an example of the response of someone who is willing to walk with God into an uncertain future. "Because of Abraham's obedient faith, when he was called to go to the land that he would receive as his inheritance, he set out without knowing where he was going" (Hebrews 11:8).

Abraham knew that God had called him and had given him a promise and that was enough. He was willing to entrust his future to God.

We can do the same by entrusting our future to God and stepping out in faith. As we stand at the threshold of a new year, may these prayers of faith and hope be yours:

O Lord God, who has called us, Your servants,
Into uncertainty whose end we cannot see,
Through untrodden paths,
And unknown perils,
Give us faith to go boldly,
Though we know not where we go
But we only know that Your hand leads us

And Your love sustains us. Amen --DCM

GO WITH FAITH IN GOD
EVEN IF YOU DON'T KNOW ITS PURPOSE
