Which quotes are found in the Bible?
1. Cleanliness is part of faith.
2. God helps those who help themselves.
3. Confession is good for the soul.
4. Humans create trouble for themselves, like high-flying fireworks.
5. Money is the root of all evil.
6. Honesty is the best wisdom.
Believe it or not, only one of these quotes is found in the Bible. The fourth quote comes from Job 5:7.
George Müller, a pastor and director of an orphanage in the 1800s, would have no trouble knowing which of these quotes are from the Bible. Why?
Because he has read everything more than 100 times! He said: "I see it as a lost day if I don't make time to meditate on God's word.... I always make it a habit not to start work before I spend time with God and His word. The blessings I receive are incredible."
We shouldn't feel guilty if we don't read as much of the Bible as Müller did. However, consider reading the entire Bible with me at least once this coming year--not so we can answer some tricky questions about this, but because the Bible was given to us by God and is useful for our spiritual growth (2 Timothy 3: 16-17) --AMC
