The fallen have been raised up by your words, and weak knees you have strengthened (Job 4:4)
The local newspaper reported about a disillusioned mother. His 21 year old son, who always appeared to be a nice young man, was arrested by the police for being involved in drugs.
The same thing happened in our community. The parents and relatives of a 15-year-old boy are saddened that the boy was killed by a stray bullet.
An elderly friend was disillusioned when his only daughter, the one he relied on the most, had died of cancer.
Those who grieve have the same need, namely comfort that comes from a God who can be trusted. They need to be convinced that tragedy or grief is not a sign of God's anger. Instead, God wept with them, loved them, and He never forsaken His own.
Eliphaz said to Job, "Your words raised up the fallen, and you strengthened the feeble knees" (Job 4:4). Job received this praise even though he was suffering greatly. And when we give comfort to those who are grieving or suffering, we are not just like Job -- we are like Jesus.
In the midst of people who are grieving, each of us can strive to be a comforter like Job. Let us ask God to make our hearts soft enough to support and strengthen those who are grieving --HVL
ALLAH DOESN'T JUST COMFORT US SO THAT WE ARE CONFUSED BUT ALSO SO THAT WE BECOME COMFORTERS TO OTHER PEOPLE
