PERSONAL LETTER

How I love Your Torah! I meditate on it all day long (Psalm 119:97)

In 1991, actress Julia Roberts was asked what item she considered most valuable. "I have a letter from my father," he answered. "It was the only letter I could keep as a child.... If someone were to take that letter, my life would be ruined. That letter may mean nothing to anyone, but I can read it ten times in a day, and I get a different impression every time I repeat it."

According to Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard, the Bible is a precious love letter from a heavenly Father to His children. How do you view the Bible? Do you think that it is just an ancient book known for its historical and religious values? Or do you consider it a personal letter from your heavenly Father, the only letter of worth that has ever existed? And do you read it over and over, even every day, and find something that touches your heart each time you read it?

If you no longer feel the greeting of God's love letter to you, try spending a week reading Psalm 119. The Psalm is a hymn about His word. You will find that the Bible can make you wise and can help you survive "against all the ways of evil" (verse 98,101). The word will be "sweet" to you, "more than honey to [your] mouth" (verse 103) --VCG
