Many Christians complain about Christmas. "Too commercial," they said. "It comes from idol worship. We have to turn Christ back into the real Christmas." The only grunt they never uttered was, "Bah! Holy crap!"
Yes, Christmas has become very commercial. However, if we buy and wrap Christmas gifts, each of these gifts can be a silent testimony about a main gift, namely "God's only begotten Son" (John 3:16).
Yes, we know that the story of Santa Claus is a myth, and reindeer can't fly. All that is just a fairy tale. But instead of worrying about these trivial matters, which only care about ourselves, it is better for us to pay attention to the truth about the baby that was born in Bethlehem.
How about a call to put Christ back into the real Christmas? Yes, He never left. Hear the words of the Christmas carol played over and over in shops, shopping malls and on the streets. The carols proclaimed more truth in one day than sermons in three months. They place in the minds of young and old alike the amazing truth that "God has come and He is worthy of worship."
Christmas isn't bullshit; it is an opportunity to point others to the Saviour. Gives us the opportunity to say to our friends and loved ones, "Do you know the true meaning of Christmas? I know, because I believe in Christ."
