GOOD CHRISTIAN PEOPLE

And finally, all of you should be equal, like-minded, loving brothers, compassionate and humble (1Peter 3:8)

GOOD AMERICAN PEOPLE. That was the title of a headline in a newspaper that I read by chance. The article quoted Keren, the governor-general of Ethiopia, as saying: "Why don't you send us more Americans like Mr Downey?" The Ethiopian government official repeated to reporters who interviewed him, "Why aren't there more good people like him?"

The article further explained that what was meant was a former soldier who had worked hard to establish an orphanage and a hospital that was urgently needed in that area. For his services he has earned the nickname "the good American" which is indeed a great honor.

But a more noble honor is when we are called "good Christians." More than other people, believers must really be able to become 'those who radiate beauty'. Our lives are marked by gentleness, unanimity, feeling, love and humility (1 Peter 3:4,8). We will 'radiate beauty' because we repay evil by blessing (1 Peter 3:9), we seek peace (1 Peter 3:11), and we are willing to suffer for righteousness' sake (1 Peter 3:14).

When others look at you, do they see the radiance of Christ's love in you? Because of your faithfulness, can you be a "good Christian"? --RWD

CHRIST WILL SHOW THROUGH THE LIFE OF GOOD CHRISTIAN PEOPLE
