WITH EYES OF FAITH

Now, Lord, let your servant go in peace...for my eyes have seen your salvation (Luke 2:29-30)

It's really heartwarming! An old man holds Baby Jesus in his arms and praises God (Luke 2:27-32). Simeon had been assured by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before seeing the promised Messiah, and he came to the Temple at the same time that Joseph and Mary also entered with the Baby Jesus.

I once felt that Simeon was more blessed than I was because he had the honor of actually touching Jesus, whereas I had to believe without seeing or touching Him. Now I realize that Simeon too had to exercise his faith. After all, she was holding a baby born to a couple she had never known before. But he gained confidence because of the testimony of the Holy Spirit in his heart, and we must also rely on that same testimony today.

In the last moments of our Lord's stay on earth, when He appeared to His disciples after His resurrection, He said to Thomas, "Because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen, but have believed " (John 20:29). Likewise, we who live at this time can know Christ closely and personally with the eyes of faith.

As we celebrate Christmas, let's pause for a moment to look to God with eyes of faith. When we do, we will be able to raise our voices to praise Allah [HVL]

PEOPLE SAY THAT BY SEEING WE BELIEVE
BUT GOD SAID THAT WITH BELIEVING WE SEE
