Think of it as joy when you fall into various trials (James 1:2)
The Bible teaches us to respond to difficult circumstances in a way that goes against our natural inclinations. One of the Bible's commandments that challenges us is: "Consider it joy when you fall into various trials" (James 1:2).
In other words, we need to view adversity with genuine joy and regard it as happiness--not rejecting trials and temptations, or seeing them as troublemakers, but welcoming them as friends. I don't know what about you, but I can never immediately think.
This biblical view may seem strange and unattainable if we do not pay attention to the explanation that follows: “For you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance” (verse 3). A joyful attitude is not based on how we feel, but on what we know about God and His work in our lives. Therefore, the painful process that can realize the coveted goal should be welcomed as a friend.
It is not a test of our strength, but the proof of our faith in God that can build our resilience. In all our difficulties, God promises to give wisdom today (verse 5) and the crown of life for those who persevere (verse 12).
My natural response to difficult circumstances is, “Oh, no!” But the Lord wanted me to see what He could bring about through difficult circumstances, so that I could say, “Oh, yes!” --David McCasland
