We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works (Ephesians 2:10)
A church organist is practicing to play a song by Felix Mendelssohn, but he still can't play it well. Annoyed, he then packed up his musical equipment and was about to leave. He didn't notice that someone came in and sat in the front pew of the church.
As the organist left, the man came forward and asked if he could play the song. "I never allow anyone to touch this organ!" said the organist. After two polite pleas, finally the fierce organist reluctantly agreed.
The man finally sat down and played beautiful music so that the music filled the church. When finished, the organist asked, "Who are you?" The man replied, "I'm Felix Mendelssohn." At first the organist almost forbade the composer to play his own music!
Often we are too eager to play the tunes of our own lives and forbid the Creator to play beautiful music. Like the stubborn organist, it is with a heavy heart that we take our hands off the organ keys. As His people, we are "created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance" (Ephesians 2:10). However, our lives cannot produce beautiful music unless we allow God to work within us.
