WONDERFUL PROMISE

I will never forsake you and I will never forsake you (Hebrews 13:5)

The writer of Hebrews quotes God's words to His people: "Never will I forsake you and I will never leave you” (Hebrews 13:5). How did it touch you? Is it just a delightful holiness that makes you yawn big?

This is different from saying that we can drink coffee with the President or the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Getting to know people like that is really important to us. But to believe that God is with us every moment of every day, as close as our skin, in every event of life, when we cry or laugh--that's almost absurd.

However, throughout history many people have risked their lives on this truth. Abraham, Moses, Rahab, Joshua, David, and Esther are just a few examples. God's promise was proven true in their lives. But how do we know that the promise is true for our lives too?

It is real to us because of Jesus. Through His coming, He actually said, “I want to be with you; I gave my life for you; I sacrificed My life for you. Is it possible that I will leave you?”

-How do you respond to this astonishing promise? Maybe the promise was too grandiose. It may also seem impossible. However, don't ignore that promise. When you are sad, afraid, facing struggles and trials, there is no more beautiful promise than: "I will never forsake you and I will never forsake you" --Haddon Robinson
