ALWAYS FRESH

What was once made will be made again; there is nothing new under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9)

We all tend to repeat our daily routines. From time to time we eat, sleep, work, and tidy up. We can lose our zest for life if “there is nothing new under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 1:9).

However, there is another way of looking at life. The world can be likened to a stage where the drama of eternity is staged and we are the actors. The sun rises and sets like a big sail day after day. And every time we "repeat our path," we are actually making a decision. We can view our role in everyday life as merely completing our task, or we can see it as a wonderful opportunity to know and enjoy the goodness and wisdom of the great Director (verses 5:18-20; 12:13,14).

When we happily take part in these repetitive activities, our character is formed, our faith is strengthened, our hope is increased, and our endurance is developed. Through ordinary events, Allah tells us that there is something more to our existence in this world than a series of meaningless tasks.

Part of God's plan for us is for us to submit to His guidance in ordinary, repetitive events. Trusting God continuously throughout the month, week, day, and hour, is the most appropriate way to make our life always fresh --Mart De Haan
