May the Lord bless the man who is willing to give his loyal love to the living and the dead (Ruth 2:20)
At one end of the truck station where HH Lee worked years ago was a coal company. Near the base were railroad tracks, and every day several freight trains passed. Lee had often noticed that the owner of the coal company, a Christian, liked to throw lumps of coal in several places over the guardrail along the tracks. One day he asked the man why he did it.
The man replied, "There is an old woman who lives across the street, and I know that her pension is not enough to buy coal. After the trains pass, she will go along the tracks and pick up any grain that she thinks has fallen from the train. coal. He didn't know that the steam locomotive had been replaced by a diesel engine. I didn't want to disappoint him, so I threw some coals over the fence."
That is Christianity shown in action! The book of Ruth clearly illustrates this principle of giving. When Boaz saw Ruth gathering grain behind the reapers in his field, he ordered the reapers to leave some handfuls of wheat for him. For Ruth, this was a blessing from God.
Likewise, the people whose lives we touch need to experience God's love through our compassion and generosity. Therefore, we need to ask God to make us sensitive to opportunities to show kindness --HGB
