I have surely seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and have heard their cry (Exodus 3: 7)
When we are experiencing deep grief or a difficult situation, we may feel offended when someone says that something good can come of our troubles. A well-meaning person who tries to encourage us to believe in God's promises, can be viewed as unfeeling or even unrealistic.
This happened to the Israelites, when God was working on their deliverance from the land of Egypt. Pharaoh hardened his heart against God's command to let His people go, and he increased the workload of the Hebrew slaves by forcing them to gather the straw needed to make bricks (Exodus 5:10,11). They became so discouraged that they could not accept Moses' assurance that God had heard their cry and promised to take them to their own land (6:8).
Sometimes the hurt and fear we experience can close our ears to God's hopeful words. However, God doesn't stop talking to us when we have trouble listening. He will continue to work on our behalf. It happened just as when He delivered His people from the land of Egypt.
When we experience God's mercy and His care, we will be able to hear His voice again, even if the wound has not healed —DCM
