WASTING LIFE

Don't live like those who don't know God with their vain thoughts (Ephesians 4:17)

How stressful it is to talk to some people about God, Jesus, and salvation. They belittle you by saying, “We each have our own beliefs.” Or, “Don't preach to me about how to live because I won't be preaching to you either.”

How do we respond to that? By telling and showing them that our belief in Christ makes sense. This belief gives meaning to our lives now and forever.

In Papillon, the main character dreams of being on trial. The judge charged him with the most horrific crime ever committed by man. When Papillon asked what crime he had committed, the judge told him, "Tragedy wastes life." "I am guilty!" said Papillon, sobbing. "Guilty."

There are many people around us whose lives are meaningless or hopeless. They are caught in the web of sin, living “in vain thoughts” (Ephesians 4:17). Our role, as followers of the Lord Jesus, is to show that living by faith makes sense. In a world that is aimless and full of hopelessness, we must live with purpose and hope.

When we show the difference Jesus has made in our lives to those around us, they will see that life can have meaning and purpose. Thus, if they turn to Jesus, they too will avoid the tragedy of wasting life --Dave Egner
