He came to them walking on the water (Mark 6:48)
When a helicopter crashes in the cold mountainous wilderness, the pilots survive but are seriously injured. The freezing day turned into an even colder night. The situation seemed hopeless, until a rescue helicopter appeared, and its searchlights pierced the darkness of the night. The helicopter managed to locate the wreckage, land nearby, and save the entire crew.
“How did you guys know our position?” asked an injured pilot.
"From the radar on your helicopter," explained the rescuer. “It turns off automatically when you fall. All we did was follow him.”
Jesus' disciples also experienced the joy of being saved. They had tried to row their boat against the wind and waves in the dark night on the Sea of Galilee (Mark 6:45-47). Then Jesus came to them, walked on the water, and calmed the turbulent sea
(verses 48-51).
We may experience the same situation, namely when everything is dark and gives a bad omen. We can't help ourselves, and it seems that others can't help us either. No one knows how scared and tired we are. No one knows, except Jesus.
When we are trapped, hurt, lonely, or discouraged, Jesus knows it. Our weeping sorrow is a sign that will bring Him to our side, just when we need Him the most --Dave Egner
