A voice came from heaven: "You are My Beloved Son, in You I am well pleased" (Lukas 3:22)
Jesus began appearing to perform ministry and was baptized by John the Baptist. However, as he came up out of the water after being baptized, He heard His Father say, “You are my beloved Son, in you I am well pleased” (Luke 3:22).
What did Jesus do to deserve such tremendous acceptance? He hasn't performed a miracle yet; He has not preached; He has not made the leper clean. In fact He has not done anything that we might consider great. What did He do for 30 years in Nazareth before He served? He grew “in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and men” (2:52).
What is done in solitary confinement with God is what gives meaning. It is in these moments of fellowship with God that we are shaped and prepared so that we become human beings who can be used by Him, namely to become people who please Him.
Maybe you're thinking, I'm in a position where I'm useless. Maybe you feel limited and frustrated because of your age, illness, unruly children, and uncooperative partner. However, no matter where you are, it is a place to grow.
Take time to read God's word and pray. Grow and bear fruit wherever you are, and the Father will be pleased with you -David Roper
